I've fallen behind with email/internet stuff again and haven't been able to use the weekend to catch up. But if anyone's interested, here's what I've been up to (besides GOTV efforts for the election):
[outdated link redacted] Ku Klux Klan Planning a Rally for Dunlap, TN
The Klan was in Dunlap, TN today (one county over -- very near Moonshadow, the commune where Emmie spent her summer), and I went over with a bunch of people to yell at them. It was great fun -- we all blew whistles to make it hard for the grand poobah (or wizard or whatever) to be heard and after just 30 minutes or so, they gave up and announced that they were going to go elsewhere. It was also kinda scary -- I've never been to a Klan event before and was surprised by how palpable the hate was. Fortunately, there were tons of cops there, so I didn't fear for my safety, but the negative aura was very disturbing.
Anyway, I'm off this evening to a benefit auction to raise money for helping people with AIDS. Emmie and a friend stayed behind to go to the Ketner's Mill Country Arts Fair, which is going on this weekend over near Dunlap and then they're going to spend the night at Moonshadow and drive back tomorrow. I wish I could have stayed, but I can't afford the time.
There's just too much to do at this time of year! I'm glad I took the time out to go to Dunlap, though -- the 45-minute rides over and back were beautiful as the route is on winding mountain roads and we're just starting to see the rich hues of fall foliage here.
Oh! And I voted already! Early voting started on Wednesday here (we had a parade to celebrate that afternoon and Emmie voted for the first time, which was very exciting!), and I finally made it by the election commission on my way home on Friday. Jennie Blue was with me and they gave us stickers!
Now everyone else get your badassselves to the polls if you haven't already!

Early Voting?
Where's a list of early voting locations? I'm still undecided of course, but I need to know where to go the minute I make up my mind...
Locations are listed at http://www.hamdems.org along with the phone number if you want someone to come get you and sample ballots so you'll know what to expect when you get there! How's that?
