Connections

The internet is a great place to connect with people. I've made a number of friends here in the ether, some of whom I've gone on to meet in real life (and I've gone as far away as Norway to do so!). Since I started this blog last summer, I've encountered all sorts of interesting people here in the virtual land of reciprocal links and trackbacks. I've also been drawn into Phriday Photo Phun by all the dog- cat- and other animal-bloggers who share their pictures every week, and my efforts to photograph a variety of creatures has led me back to birdwatching. And it is through the intersection of birding and connecting with online friends that I ended up asking the question that led to this post on 10,000birds.com (a wonderful site that I found via creature blogging at the Modulator's Friday Ark) -- which brings me back around to connecting with people online, since the discussion that led to that question about magpies was one I had with my above-mentioned friend in Norway.

All this is my very roundabout way of welcoming the visitors who've been coming via 10,000birds.com today. I'm sorrry I wasn't able to do so earlier today, but it's taken me until now to get back here after a busy day at the office and a meeting over dinner this evening. I'm happy to make this connection with you. Besides the political commentary, I also try to share some ameteur photography and generally lighten up the place with random rants and ruminations. Please feel free to leave comments or shoot me an email. I'm glad you stopped by and hope you come back again.
