Via Atrios:
Bill Frist can and should now be referred to in the press as "Senator Bill Frist, documented liar."
UPDATE: Thanks to egalia for this gem: "Bill Frist has this all upside down. He thought Terri Schiavo could see and his trust was blind." -- Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.)
UPDATE: Here's a timeline of the relevant events.
UPDATE: Yeah -- what TL said! ;-)

I also read a piece in TIME today that Frist yanked a proposed bill that would have required a more specific policy in all military training on how to treat all POWs sponsored by John McCain.
I met Frist several times in mid 90s after he was first elected, and was "allowed" to join the media phone interview sessions he used to do. They dropped me off the list when I started asking questions about his massive overhaul on the bill dealing with treatment of children with disabilities in public schools. He came to Morristown a few times to promo a school program called "Character Counts", which was supposed to teach kids about "good character". Yeah, I know. But it was priceless to see how the 4th grade kids'questions made him nervous.
He also had a weird look in his eyes, which I realized I had seen once before -- when I met and interviewed Dan Quayle. The look was ... how to say it?? ... vacant, that's the word.
That's curious, as I wouldn't associate the two on any other level. Dan was a lightweight, but except for being underqualified for his job, he wasn't evil or anything. Frist, otoh, doesn't appear to have any internal moral center, so he's easily led astray by ambition or greed.
