It's one of my favorite climbing vines (some people consider them weeds), and their fragrance is wonderful. I couldn't get close enough to this one to really do it justice, but you get the idea. These remind me of the lilac bushes that ran along the top of the driveway at the house I grew up in... mmmm...

Gorgeous picture, gorgeous flowers! I'm getting envious. Bergen, Norway, is still caught in the cold of winter, so no hint of green anywhere yet, save for a few brave crocuses. Normally, they would have appeared a month ago.
So, that's where our winter went?!? To Norway?
Lilacs and wisteria are two of my favorites as well, even though the latter can be a nuisance plant.
Several years ago I wrote an instrumental tune that I later called "Lilac and Wisteria."
I love the color and smell of wisteria, however it *is* invasive, and it *is* parasitic. Perhaps we can enjoy them where they've already taken over, but cultivate lilacs where we wish to grow our own.
