Why is it that whenever I need a phillips head screwdriver, all I can find are flathead screwdrivers, but when I need a flathead screwdriver, all I can find are phillips head screwdrivers?
The screws know what type of screwdriver you have and transform themselves into the opposite. It's just self-preservation and part of the evolutionary process. Now, if only bugs would learn what a windshield is.
It's a Murphy thing, the same reason that your heat pump craps out when the weather is either very hot or very cold and you're broke. I know how it can sense the extreme outdoor temperatures, but how does it tell when you're broke?
Make life simple - always carry a Leatherman and you can fix nearly anything. Just don't get anywhere near an airport or they'll immediately brand you a terrist...
Did the missing screwdrivers appear as soon as you got home with the new set, Bill? Buck suggests an appealing alternative to continuing to struggle... Tim, I've never heard of a leatherman before, but the ones I found at the obvious URL look like a hell of a stocking stuffer... the rest of you are just cracking me up...

OK... That's freakin' weird...
I was thinking the SAME THING earlier today and went so far as to go to Wal-Mart and buy an entire duplicate set.
I believe that would be one of Murphy's Laws.

Why is it when I need a screwdriver I never have any orange juice?
