John Kerry is down in South Carolina today to endorse Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination. I think this endorsement cuts both ways, as Kerry is not especially popular in the party outside the halls of power, but he does have a hell of a rolodex. Plus, getting a nod from such a long-time beltway insider kind of hurts Obama's outsider/change cred. So maybe it's a wash.
John Edwards has responded to what many view as a snub with words of respect. Even though these two haven't been the best of friends since they ran together in 2004, I still think maybe Kerry should have kept quiet in this race. Coming out for one of Edwards's opponents seems at least a tad bit bitchy.

I couldn't agree more. Kerry should have kept his trap shut. While he has every right to speak, it doesn't say much for his character.
John Kerry/South Carolina/endorsing Obama....
Not six words that an Obama supporter wants to hear as I'm pretty sure Kerry doesn't have much pull south of, oh, Connecticut.
@$$hole. And to think I was enthusiastic about him. Props to Edwards for class. Of course, I have always supported Edwards.
Edwards, a Trotsky-ite according to George Will, is now my man until he quits.
Thank God someone is talking about health care and wealth redistribution. He speaks with some anger which feels good to me, the lower middle class could use some anger. If they keep allowing themselves to be hosed by our system of reverse wealth distribution our country will continue to suffer. Someone needs to have the courage to insist the most affluent and blessed among us contribute more for the benefit of the rest.
Give em hell John, while you last! Let them call you disingenuous, it still feels damn good to me to hear someone say it.
Even though I intensely dislike John Kerry, this does not dim my enthusiasm for Barack Obama. I guess Obama truly is a uniter!
Oh, I don't mean to dim anyone's view of Obama! I am a big fan! He and Edwards (and Gore, if you think he's still in the running as long as there is the possibility of a brokered convention) are my top choices! (And Hillary too, actually, since we are talking about an alternative to the Republicans...)
