Oy. I have to take a break from posting about politics for the evening. I just watched the Republican debate and the setting was the Reagan Library in California. Apparently when a person walks into that building, he (or she) is immediately stricken with a horrible case of Reagan Tourettes. If I had been drinking every time a candidate uttered the word "Reagan," I'd be at the hospital now, having my stomach pumped.
So, anyway, this 1-2-3-4-5 Meme has been sitting in my drafts for a week or so. I was tagged by Sravana, who got it from Keera, but it's taken me a while to get through it all. So, without further ado...
1. Name one thing you do every day.
-- I move around. Walk, run, take a bike ride, or march up a treadmill hill -- something to get the blood moving.
2. Name two things you wish you could learn.
-- Spanish -- to the point of fluency.
-- Jazz piano.
3. Name three things that remind you of your childhood.
-- The smell of boxwood. It reminds me of my uncle's farm, where I got to spend lots of time as a kid.
-- The smell of jergens lotion or soap. My sister went through a jergens phase at some point when we were kids and I've rarely encountered it since.
-- The sound of the surf. I got to spend a lot of time at the shore every summer when I was growing up, but haven't been quite as regular as an adult.
4. Name four things you love to eat but rarely do.
-- Yorkshire pudding. It is wonderful (Emmie would say important), but we only have it for Christmas dinner.
-- Caviar. So delish! So dear!
-- Pâté. It's yummy, but we don't do appetizers much except for special occasions.
-- Seafood. I love shellfish, but cooking it tends to stink up the house, so I mostly just eat seafood when I'm out (seafood in soup, of course, is a different story!)
5. Name five things or people that make you feel good.
-- A good workout. Sucking some wind, a little sweat and an elevated heart rate -- it's all very energizing.
-- The coast. The sea air and the humidity make my skin feel good and walking in the sand rubs years of wear off my feet.
-- Success. A job well done. Finishing a project is a great feeling.
-- Dear Puppy. She does this little dance of joy every single time I come home. She's never too busy, distracted or tired to race to the door and have a little party just because I showed up.
-- My family. G-Dog is brilliant and wise and is somehow still willing to put up with me after a whole bunch of years. Emmie is brilliant and brave and creative and kind. She is the Rory to my Loralai. And all three of us have a lot of fun together. On a larger scale, my extended family is spread out all over the place, but every time we gather, we pick up just where we left off the last time. Whenever we're together, wherever we are feels like the safest place on earth.

Caviar's not a fave but I like when I get three different kinds, with three different flavors. Then I have something to explore and the different caviars actually enhance each other. And speaking of seafood, how's that allergy?
