Tim, taking the hit for Alice, I see. I hope she appreciates it.
And yes, lovely photograph, Alice! I think it looks like a flower *pinches self*, not a spore. And not a Star of Persia. The flowers on that really do look like stars. I've seen what you've photographed before, but I can't place it nor name it.
I photograph signs as a way of reminding myself what the heck I was looking at. Thanks to the miracle of roomy memory cards for digital cameras, that doesn't waste film. ;-)

That kind of reminds me of a sea urchin!
Reminds me of something spiky, too. What is it? (And if you say "flower", I'll reach through the trans-Atlantic cable and pinch you ;-) )
Flower. No trans-Atlantic cable required.
Lovely portrait of whites...
Lovely shot -- very nice.
(Thanks for all the kind words, everyone!)

Showy milkweed? Hrmph. Not quite. Oh, heck. Here: Lurie Garden plant list. Ornamental onion. Is that it? It's related to the Star of Persia.
Most of the plants had identifying signs. I'm just going to have to go back to find out for sure!
