I'm afraid that's just exactly the problem (big pharma AND the insurance cos), in which case, I'll have to wonder just why I've been busting my ass all these years...
Hmm, Medicare bankrupt in eight years, Social Security broke in 30 years, Medicaid broke in ten years.
Why, with all the success of government-funded, government-run entitlement programs, what could possibly go wrong with Obama/Pelosi taking over 1/6th of the American economy? Like they keep saying, they're going to add 47 million new people to the rolls, add no new doctors, they'll reduce costs for everyone, care will actually improve, there will be no rationing of care, everyone will get what they want at every moment, and it'll all be free, free, free!!!
Last night showed us these clowns are gone in 2010 with the community organizer-in-chief being shown the door in four.
I wouldn't go that far. You know, we could easily afford proper health care in this country if we weren't flushing so much money away with Bush's idiotic wars.
And whether or not we officially socialize our health care system, we do already have socialized health care -- it's just ridiculously expensive and unbelievably inefficient, because it is being provided by our nation's emergency rooms.
What I do hear from behind the scenes on what is going on with the health care bills is...mind-blowing. I admit that I feel betrayed. We already pay more than enough to have excellent health care for each of us, but that money is going elsewhere and I guess we just are not going to be able to achieve anything resembling social justice as long as our media is owned by billionaires who don't want to give up a cent.
Nope. And the bill is the expected mish-mash of compromise for the sake of getting something -- anything -- through, and the usual genuflections to our corporate gods. We'll see where it goes from here... :-/

With a Dem majority in both houses, what exactly is Obama afraid of? What are the Dems afraid of? Are they too deep in the pockets of Big Pharma?

Yes it has been a disappointing ride so far.

Thank God.

I'm waiting to see what happens this weekend, but I'm not feeling all that optimistic...
What happens this weekend?
This.
OK, so a bill barely passed. We're not out of the woods yet. :-/
