Sadly, this makes me think of my situation at work, where we still feel at risk of being parked someplace to rust - no talk of a fast-track but off the track entirely. (But don't feel bad for taking the picture; it's rather cool that it can tell a story happening 1000's of km's away.)
I think that if American workers understood how badly they were being treated compared to European ones - and getting a sucky wage to boot - they'd react. They might even *gasp* join unions.
Heh. Unfortunately, they're all watching "American Idol" and stuffing themselves with pizza pockets, while their eyes slowly glaze over as they lapse into a junkfood haze. So, by the time they flip on the radio in the morning (as they sit in the line at the McDonald's drive-through, getting "breakfast"), they don't have the mental wherewithal to disagree when Rush Limbaugh tells them that unions are evil.
So, no. They're not going to react. Or join. They're just going to escape into some more "reality" television. Good little worker bees.

Modern corporate culture sucks. I wish more people were paying attention. Then maybe things would change... ...
