This very pale tricolored heron was still in its winter plumage when I snapped this shot back in January. I wish I had been able to catch the entire height of its reflection in the water, but the bird is just too tall -- I would have had to pan way back, losing too much detail in the process.
Happy Friday, everyone! It was on this date 52 years ago that my parents were married at the Church of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in the Battery. They got married again three days later at my grandfather's church in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, so by the end of that week, they were really, really married!
Have a wonderful weekend! If you want to see more Friday animal pictures from across the 'net, the modulator is putting up the links!

These nature pictures are so beautiful but I find myself gravitating back down to the roasted garlic :-)
Have a great weekend Alice
Herons and their relatives are such gorgeous birds. Anyway, chasing down your links revealed the following: I have actually been at/near Battery Park. The ferry to Ellis Island goes from there. Happy anniversary!
Buck, ever since I started up with the roasted garlic, we've had to keep a steady supply of it in the fridge -- it wouldn't be dinner without a bit on a cracker or small square of bread! I'm roasting ten or twelve heads at a time, just to keep up with the demand! (I think maybe we've got the vampire problem licked, too!)
Keera, yes!!! When you were waiting for the ferry (either for Ellis Island or Staten Island, and I think maybe for Lady Liberty, too!), you were standing within view of the church where my parents were wed! It's right across the street...
I wish I'd known. :-)
