Well, I'm thinking about blogging again. Using words. More than just the twice a week photos I've been putting up lately. At least, I've had the impulse to blog lately, though I haven't. So far.
I've been working on the archives for a week or so. I have them all back up, but they're a mess. Photos are not linked properly, internal links 404, and external links are a disaster! Slowly but surely (I'm most of the way through 2005 as of this moment), I'm working through the first two issues while formulating a plan for the third. And I'm enjoying the review. It's making me think about writing again.
The thing is, I don't know what I want to write about, and I'm unsettled with regard to where I should put what I write. Back in the day, there was just the blog. Now we also have facebook and twitter (at the very least!) and I can't wrap my head around how I might use the three in synch with each other. Obviously, extended thoughts belong here, and lately I've been using twitter to share links and interesting web bits. Beyond that I don't know. This business of posting everything everywhere is a particularly annoying practice, so I'd like to formulate at least a loose policy of approach.
Am I over-thinking this?

To answer your question: Yes.
Twitter has a limit of 140 characters. Obviously not meant for stuff that may require more than one paragraph. For longer thoughts: Teh blog.
Facebook is subscription only and has sucky (and definitely not personal) interface. If you want to reach people you don't know and present a site that is definitely your personal one: Teh blog. (Also, you can archive your blog. ;-) )
Use Twitter to notify of blog updates or post links that are inspired by or will inspire in future a blog post. Ditto Facebook.
Or, here's another way to look at it: Today's newspapers have printed pages, web pages and their weekend insert that often goes in-depth into things (at least where I live) and offers a different look and feel from the regular stuff. The equivalent to a social media user would be teh blog. Is how I see it.
But yeah, I get the whole "I used to write a lot. Why don't I write a lot now? I miss it!" I'm struggling with it, too, and I am wondering why. Are the other mediums that distracting - or draining? Is all creativity used up in reading and commenting? That's both weird and disturbing and I'm not sure that's really the answer. But I do wonder.
Yeah, ok. So, now... where did I leave my muse? (Agreed.) ;-)
Maybe we should just challenge each other. A tag-team of blog writers - you write, I write, then you write again. We've got the WW stuff, so add a proper article per week each (and if we're naughty, write more often, so forcing the other to have to write more often).
Oh, I guess it's my turn to write, then. ;-)
It's a deal!! :-D
Oh, no, what have I done...? ;-) It'll be done later this weekend. Don't have the time now.
But I am looking forward to it! I can feel the happy anticipation of getting something down on screen!
Sorry, I lied. I got inspired and so I wrote. Tag, you're it! :-D
LOL!! I'll have to put my thinking cap on this weekend!
Well, I've been out of town, so my rhythm's been thrown off. Are we still playing? :-D
I hope so! I'm kind of waiting for you. :-)
Doop! Really?!? Oy. Maybe I should post about feeling overwhelmed... ;-D
It all counts, as long as it's not just a pretty picture. ;-)
