One more photo from Italy. This is a turtle that was living in a pond at Hadrian's Villa outside of Rome.
Have a great weekend, folks. I wish I could say more, but I'm in a rush -- I'm getting ready to pop out of town real quick... I'll be back soon! (Say hi to the critters on the ark for me.)

Thanks, Alice. Here's an excerpt of a poem I wrote years ago, called "Snapping Turtle":
Care and war had
been handed down to us, our fingers shaped,
after countless generations, to bad
or good. And so we believed it good escape
for this terrapin to receive a hand
from us, acceleration of progress.
Like wings, we lifted the dark thing off land
and carried the procrastinator west
to water.
