Republican lawmakers are drafting new legislation that will make marriage a requirement for motherhood in the state of Indiana, including specific criminal penalties for unmarried women who do become pregnant "by means other than sexual intercourse."Is there any area of our lives in which Republican lawmakers are NOT eager to intrude? One has to wonder how these would-be pregnancy police would decide who is worthy of a "gestational certficiate" indicating that a person is not guilty of "unauthorized reproduction." Will this bring us a step closer to the realization of the Master Race? Who will be allowed to reproduce? Will the mixing of races be allowed? Will atheists be allowed to procreate? Catholics? Michigan State fans? Ugly people? Those with a history of infidelity? Will there be educational requirements? What if a marriage ends? Will the children be taken away?
The mind wobbles.
