Why do right-wing Christians hate women?

There is a vaccine that could be available soon that might completely wipe out a deadly disease that afflicts women. A cause for celebration, you say? Well, yes! This could be a very good thing, liberating future generations from smear tests and fear of a particularly scary disease that is often difficult to detect until it is too late. But, if you're a certain kind of (supposed) Christian, this vaccine is a bad thing -- something threatening that must be stopped. Why do these people hate women so much? Is it because they blame us all for what Eve supposedly did? I sure would like to know...

Oh, to be Young and Yellow!

The Young Chickenhawks (here's an excerpt):
Conservative campus groups like YAF and College Republicans are growing in strength and numbers. And since the start of the Iraq War, these outfits have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Bush to support the war, but they have not stood alongside the soldiers doing the actual fighting and dying. They want someone else to do the hard work.

No Babies For You!

I'm having a hard time believing this story isn't just a well-played joke by some very twisted souls in Indiana.
Republican lawmakers are drafting new legislation that will make marriage a requirement for motherhood in the state of Indiana, including specific criminal penalties for unmarried women who do become pregnant "by means other than sexual intercourse."
Is there any area of our lives in which Republican lawmakers are NOT eager to intrude? One has to wonder how these would-be pregnancy police would decide who is worthy of a "gestational certficiate" indicating that a person is not guilty of "unauthorized reproduction." Will this bring us a step closer to the realization of the Master Race? Who will be allowed to reproduce? Will the mixing of races be allowed? Will atheists be allowed to procreate? Catholics? Michigan State fans? Ugly people? Those with a history of infidelity? Will there be educational requirements? What if a marriage ends? Will the children be taken away?

The mind wobbles.

UPDATE: whoops (thanks Joe!).

Casualties in the War Against Homosexuality

via Gene Stone, who poses some interesting questions.

Earlier in the week, a 21 year-old Tampa man went on trial for murdering his 3-year old son. Apparently the father, Ronnie Paris Jr., pummeled his boy to death because he thought the boy might be gay.

The Religious Right = Anti-Children

God loves all the sperms, zygotes and fetuses, but once people are born, screw 'em. These nutcases would choose leaving kids to rot in orphanages or bouncing from foster family to foster family over letting them live with caring, stable, secure families who want and love them.

Help them. Don't let the political agenda of some hate-filled homophobes result in the suffering of innocent children.

Down every lonely street that

Welcome another new blogger to the neighborhood! Stella Blue just joined us on Chattablogs, and her first major post is about the West Tennessee gay teen who is being abused by supposed adults who think his orientation can be "fixed."

Perhaps we need to organize a new Rescue Operation dedicated to getting kids out of these radical wingnut households before too much damage can be done....

Update: In a related discussion, a debate about Focus on the Family and whether it is a hate group has been sparked by a post over on hamdems.
