Friday Creature

This week's creature is Nonnie, for two reasons: first, to celebrate the fact that she's finally starting to show some improvement; and second, because I really haven't been out of the house much since she got sick, so I haven't been taking many pictures at all lately!

By the beginning of the week things were still pretty bad, so the vet gave us a bit of medication that finally got her to the point where she could eat again. She's taking ulcer meds and something for general nausea. I've been cooking a lot, since she can't eat regular dog food yet -- she's been getting chicken breast, lamb, potatoes, cottage cheese and other foods that are easy on the stomach, all prepared by yours truly (it's a good thing I like cooking!). She's eating pretty well today and hopefully will start putting some weight back on soon -- she's lost quite a bit.

So, here she is, trying to stay warm, which isn't easy to do when you haven't eaten for days! Have a great weekend, everyone (and swing by the ark at some point for quite the menagerie!)!

I'm so happy Dear Dog is doing better! She's lucky to have a "mom" who can and will cook!

Which leads me to a Norwegian lesson for you: You are her "matmor" (maht-more), which literally means "food mother". That's what the human female caregiver of a pet is called. Dad would be "matfar" (maht-fahr).
