Bonnaroo 2014: Festival's 13th year was pure magic

I was hesitant to attend Bonnaroo after my somewhat-disappointing experience at the Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta, but I shouldn’t have worried—it was packed with some of the very best concerts I've been to. On the drive up to Manchester, Sean Phipps asserted that you won't see a bad band at Bonnaroo. This year definitely proved him right.
Over the past 13 years, the festival has morphed from a quirky newcomer on the festival circuit to a full-fledged experience with its own distinct culture. Whether you're talking attendees or bands, "eclectic" is the name of the game, and showing up at Bonnaroo is like waking up in an alternative reality. There you find yourself surrounded by a little bit of everything, from a few favorites to a bunch of cool stuff you haven’t really heard yet but downloaded because Pitchfork said it was good.
