Yeah, I've heard that "he just loaned his name to the cause" excuse and I don't buy it. These hateful, racist screeds were published over a period of many years. That means that Ron Paul either:
a) saw at least some issues of the newsletter and thought "oh, those silly little racists are off on another tear" but did absolutely nothing to stop it. It apparently never occurred to him, a man who has spent years in politics, that these newsletters, published under his name, might reflect badly on him. In other words, he was very careless and stupid.
b) never, in all the decades that these newsletters were published, bothered to look at one to see what words were being attributed to him. Even though he has spent years in politics, he was never curious to know what people were saying under his name. In other words, he was very careless and stupid.
Of course, the third possibility is that Ron Paul himself is a hateful racist and bigot.
In any case, we don't want this man to lead the United States.
